Don’t miss out on the events planned with Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) rescue dogs in April. From weekly strolls with little dogs and vigorous hikes with bigger, four-legged friends to adoption events at local businesses and “Egg My Yard” that delivers treats to the doorstep for both kids and canines, there’s something for everyone. Join the fun, meet the rescue dogs and bring a new best friend home to the family. For those individuals not sure if they want to adopt, fostering or hosting a slumber party for a few days is an ideal way to help the dogs decompress and socialize.

Join ODHS dogs on easy, weekly walks during Saturday Strolls at 7:45 a.m. Meet ODHS volunteers at the facility, where they’ll pair a dog with participants and head in a caravan to a different spot each week. The strolls are with smaller dogs on flat, simple paths with an indoor backup for wet or cold weather. Don’t miss the chance to get exercise, socialize with fellow dog lovers and give the dogs a chance to explore.

Location: Old Dominion Humane Society is located at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408.

Make Sunday mornings a weekly tradition--hike three-to-five miles paired with a furry buddy and enjoy the fresh air on local trails. Meet at ODHS at 8:45 a.m. to be matched with a rescue dog, and set out on a caravan to one of the many beautiful trails in Fredericksburg.

Location: Old Dominion Humane Society is located at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408.

Head on over to Tales & Tails Book Café, where the dogs will take center stage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Café has plenty of books, and the dogs are ready to be loyal reading companions. Why not choose a dog to take home for a new chapter in his life?

Location: Tales & Tails Book Café is located at 1010 Charles Street, Fredericksburg, Va., 22401.

It’s time to rev up and roll over to Old Dominion Harley-Davidson to meet the adorable dogs. Find that new wingman who’s always ready to hop along for a ride and provide plenty of wet kisses.

Location: Old Dominion Harley-Davidson is located at 10611 Patriot Highway, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408.

Skip shopping for treats, filling Easter eggs and hiding the goodies, and let the ODHS “bunnies brigade” handle the work with “Egg My Yard.” The treats will be delivered and hidden at participants’ addresses on Saturday, April 4. Opt for 20 or 40 pre-filled eggs with a donation of $1 per egg. Eggs are stuffed with tasty candy for the kids or that special person and dog treats for a favorite furry friend. “Egg My Yard” is offered to participants in the zip codes 22401, 22406, 22407 and 22408.

Learn more about the fundraiser at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/egg-my-yard. Sign up by April 1 to have eggs hidden in the backyard on April 4 at https://givebutter.com/ODHSeggmyyard. Don’t wait to get on the Easter Bunny’s route and enjoy a hassle-free egg hunt while helping the rescue dogs.

It’s a National Pet Day Flash Tattoo fundraiser at Figure 8 Studios from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Where else can you get some fresh ink and hang out with a crew of adorable, adoptable rescue puppies from ODHS? Support a great cause, meet lots of furry friends and leave with a tattoo and a new best friend. Tattoos are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Puppy Cuddles are 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Location: Figure 8 Ink Studios is located at 10745 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408.

Swing by Harley-Davidson of Quantico for the Biker Bash and meet some cute rescue dogs looking for their forever sidecar from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mingle with the dogs, check out the bikes and bring home a new biker buddy.

Location: Harley-Davidson of Quantico is located at 17975 Main Street, Dumfries, Va., 22026.

Stop by the ODHS booth to meet some cute dogs and puppies at the Stafford Dog Club Adoption event at Mount Church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a demonstration by Stafford County Sheriff’s K9 department, as well as vendors, food and door prizes. The Stafford Dog Club’s mission is to promote responsible dog ownership through training, socialization, education, community service, healthcare, exercise, love and commitment. Serving dogs and families in the local area since 2005, members connect with other dog lovers and their canines to create everlasting relationships.

Location: Mount Church is located 1112 Garrisonville Road, Stafford, Va., 2256.

Stop in Strangeways Brewing Fredericksburg, where the ODHS rescue dogs will be in attendance for “Barks and Brews” from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Check out puppies, adult dogs and seniors; whet the appetite at the food truck; and browse through vendors’ wares. Grab a cold brew and treat a furry friend to a refreshing pup cup.

Location: Strangeways Brewing Fredericksburg is located at 350 Lansdowne Road, Fredericksburg, Va., 22401.
