What Is Spay It Forward?
Spay It Forward is a local outreach initiative serving Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Caroline counties. By providing spay and neuter vouchers to dog owners facing financial challenges, the program works to manage the pet population and ensure these vital surgeries are accessible to everyone.
Here's How It Works...
APPLY & REVIEW
Submit your Spay It Forward application. Our team will review your details (usually within one week) and contact you to collect the $25 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot in the queue.​
FUNDING & sTATUS
We’ll check our current Spay It Forward funds and provide regular updates on your place in the queue. Timing depends on available donations, but we’ll keep you informed every step of the way!
VOUCHER & BOOKING
Once funding is confirmed, we will issue your official Spay It Forward voucher (valid for 6 months)! You can then contact Kincheloe Spay & Neuter Clinic directly to book your appointment.
A Few Things About Your Dog

Size & Age: Your dog must be at least 3 months old and weigh 3 lbs or more.​

Seniors (6+): To ensure a safe surgery, we perform a bloodwork panel the morning of the appointment. If the results show that anesthesia isn't a fit, we’ll recommend a full-service veterinarian for their procedure.

In-Heat: Spaying is perfectly safe during all stages of a heat cycle, so there is no need to wait!
What's Included?
Fully Covered: The voucher covers all surgical expenses including pain medication and common upcharges (like weight, in-heat, or pregnancy fees).

Required Vaccines: You must provide proof of Rabies, Distemper, and a Heartworm test. If you don't have these by your appointment, Kincheloe will perform them for a flat $84 fee.

Optional Extras: Optional items like anxiety meds (Trazodone), extra vaccines (Bordetella, Lyme, Lepto), and heartworm prevention are not covered, but can be added at your expense upon request.​

Before you get started, please ensure you can provide transportation to and from our Kincheloe Spay & Neuter Clinic partners. Appointments are held at the Fredericksburg (North) and Ashland (South) locations below.
