Want to start the week off with some invigorating exercise and outdoor time on the hiking trails with adorable rescue dogs? A great way to volunteer and give back to the community is to join Old Dominion Humane Society’s (ODHS) Sunday hiking group, which consists of several dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers, that sets out from the rescue facility in Fredericksburg and spends the morning hiking. The ODHS volunteers will meet you at the door, help choose a dog and assist in getting them ready in the car to drive to a local hiking spot.
“The hiking group is a fun group of volunteers who hit the trails every Sunday,” said Chrissy Blake, founder of the organization. “The public is invited to join the hikes a few times a month or on a weekly basis. The dogs are always very excited to get a chance for some exercise and an adventure. It’s a great way to make these rescues feel loved and happy, and they’re always excited to have a hiking companion.”
