It was a busy morning for Longwood University students with PawsforaPurpose as they mingled with rescue dogs and scrubbed kennels at Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) on November 23. Kylie Ranson (center), founder of PawsforaPurpose and longtime volunteer for ODHS, is with Starla, one of the dogs available for adoption. A dozen students traveled from Farmville, Va., early in the morning to volunteer and spend time with the rescue dogs. PawsforaPurpose was started for students who share a passion for animals, striving for animal welfare and promoting a more humane environment for them. It actively supports local animal shelters and rescues, hosting multiple educational meetings on campus throughout the year. The organization’s objective is to extend helping hands to a wide array of wildlife through charitable endeavors.
