Old Dominion Humane Society Has Fun Events For Everyone In May

Leisurely strolls and vigorous hikes with rescue dogs, yoga with puppy snuggles and meet-and-greets with adoptable pups are on the schedule at Old Dominion Humane Society in May. Check out the list of events, visit the rescue dogs, enjoy wet kisses and bring home a rescue dog to adopt, foster or hang out for a few days at a “Slumber Party.”
Join ODHS dogs on easy, weekly walks during Saturday Strolls at 7:45 a.m. Meet volunteers at the facility, where they’ll pair a dog with participants and head in a caravan to a different spot each week. The strolls are on flat, simple paths with an indoor backup for wet or cold weather. Don’t miss the chance to get exercise, socialize with fellow dog lovers and give the dogs a chance to explore.

Make Sunday mornings a weekly tradition--hike three-to-five miles paired with a furry buddy and enjoy the fresh air on local trails. Meet at ODHS at 7:45 a.m. to be matched with a rescue dog, and set out on a caravan to one of the many beautiful trails in Fredericksburg.

The ODHS rescue dogs will be on hand as loyal reading companions and cuddlers at Tales & Tails Adoption Event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Browse through books, visit with the pups and bring a new friend home to start the next chapter of life.

Get ready to test your knowledge during “Trivia for a Cause” at Brock’s Riverside Grill from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hosted by Go Local FXBG, the proceeds from the raffle go directly to the ODHS rescue dogs.
