Rescue dogs from Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) are celebrating “the dog days of summer” with appearances at businesses, community events, hikes and more in August. With events at the FXBG Farmers Market, Tales & Tails Book Café, Spotsylvania Towne Centre, Crunch Fitness and more, pup sightings will be everywhere. The rescues will be cuddling up, doing zoomies and looking cute as they wait for their adopters during events. The community is invited to join in the outings with the dogs, and Saturday Strolls, Sunday Hikes and meet-and-greets with the rescues are free to the public.

Take a rescue dog on easy, weekly Saturday Strolls at 7:45 a.m. Meet volunteers at the facility, where they’ll pair dogs with participants and head in a caravan to a different spot each week. The strolls are on flat, simple paths with an indoor backup for wet weather. Don’t miss the chance to get exercise, socialize with fellow dog lovers and give the pups a chance to explore.

Location: Meet at ODHS at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408.

Make Sunday Hikes a weekly tradition--hike three to five miles paired with a furry buddy and enjoy the fresh air. Meet at ODHS at 7:45 a.m., and volunteers will match hikers with rescue dogs. The group will then caravan to one of the many beautiful trails in Fredericksburg.

Location: ODHS is located at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408.

Bring the grocery list for fresh produce and homemade goods, and don’t forget to include a cute rescue dog at the FXBG Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The ODHS dogs will be there to show off their zoomie expertise, cuddling skills and silly antics.

Location: The FXBG Farmers Market at Hurkamp Park is located at 500 William Street, Fredericksburg, Va., 22401.

Get ready to see the most adorable puppy litter sponsored and named by Tales & Tails Book Café. When businesses, organizations and individuals sponsor puppy litters, it helps ODHS raise funds to save more dogs. While at Tales & Tails, find a new best friend to take home and begin the next chapter of life.

Location: Tales & Tails Book Café is located at 1010 Charles Street, Fredericksburg, Va., 22401.

It will be a funfilled day of watersports for all abilities and ages from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. While there, make sure to stop by the ODHS tent to meet the rescue pups. Attendees can adopt, foster, volunteer or donate—it’s all for a good cause. There will be many four-legged friends looking for loving and caring families.

Location: The Smiles Adaptive Carnival is located at Lake of the Woods Clubhouse Point at 102 Lake of the Woods Way, Locust Grove, Va., 22508.

Tilly is great with other dogs, loves to go on hikes and boat rides and is well-behaved at wineries and restaurants. She loves cuddling up next to her humans. Though she’s had a tough past, Tilly has done a complete 180 since arriving to Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) thanks to the volunteers and fosters who have helped make her brave. She’s ready to make her way into your heart and is available for adoption at ODHS. Meet Tilly and other rescue dogs from ODHS that are ready to play, cuddle and snuggle during events in August.
